About Andreas
Andreas (b. 1998) is a Cypriot conductor based in The Netherlands, currently enrolled in the prestigious National Master in Orchestral Conducting (NMO), where he is mentored by Jac van Steen, Ed Spanjaard, and Antony Hermus.
He has worked with renowned orchestras across Europe, such as the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Athens State Orchestra. Most notably, in June 2024, he conducted the BBC Philharmonic in a program of Andronikou, Ye, and Skalkottas, recorded for BBC Radio 3.
His professional experience includes assisting esteemed conductors such as Martyn Brabbins, Sir Andrew Davis, Juanjo Mena, John Storgårds, and Joshua Weilerstein. In Greece, he served as assistant conductor to Alkis Baltas at the Philharmonic Society of Corfu Symphony Orchestra and founded a youth orchestra at the Ionian Conservatory, focusing on film music.
This season, Andreas will assist orchestras such as the Residentie Orkest, Belgian National Orchestra, and Noord Nederlands Orkest. He will also lead a project with Het Balletorkest, conducting Cinderella in a family concert setting. Dedicated to bringing music to life for every audience, he returns twice to the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra for family and educational concerts.
Equally at home on the opera stage, Andreas is passionate about exploring operatic masterpieces. During his time at RNCM, he conducted an adaptation of Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night for Lab Week, alongside his work on several staged opera scenes. Upcoming projects include The Cunning Little Vixen with the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio with the Dutch National Opera Academy at the Bredeweg Festival. He will also assist Tarmo Peltokoski with the Rotterdam Philharmonic on Tristan und Isolde and Jac van Steen with Ariadne auf Naxos at the Nederlandse Reisopera.
Andreas began his conducting studies at Ionian University with Miltos Logiadis before continuing his education at the Royal Northern College of Music under Mark Heron and Clark Rundell.
